...and other threatened habitats. Students in grades 4-9 who do Earth Day Science Symposium activities trigger $50 donations for the purchase and long-term protection of rainforest—at no cost. It’s easy! Do an activity, come online and activate the gift. Our conservation partners will then dedicate $50 towards the purchase and protection of an acre of forest elephant migration corridor, or towards the protection of sea turtle nests and hatchlings from predators and poachers.

Giving
In 2010, every class that does EDSS science and math activities triggers a donation from Earth’s Birthday Project’s Big Gift partners to fund conservation at environmental hotspots in Africa and South America. Since 1989, students participating in Big Gift to the Earth have raised $6,850,000 to purchase almost 400,000 acres of rainforest and other precious wildlands and to protect the last nesting population of leatherback sea turtles on beaches in the Eastern Pacific.

For Younger Students and Families
Observing live caterpillars as they transform into butterflies introduces children to the magic of insect metamorphosis and inspires curiosity, wonder, and love of nature. When parents and children explore nature together, learning increases exponentially. Your purchase of our Good Green Butterflies kit for children in grades PreK-3 also includes the purchase and protection of 1/20 acre of threatened South American rainforest to offset 2,500 pounds of carbon pollution in the United States. The butterfly kit includes a certificate honoring your child for this gift.
